Alejandra Rendon Felix will take part in a journey-seminar in Japan in March 2019 during the Japanese fashion week in Tokyo and receive a 5,000 euro training grant.
Today’s event closes a unique educational project that Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana offered to select students, a training programme including workshops, consulting on speci c themes and direct contacts with companies that assisted them for the three months from March 2018 to the long awaited moment of the fashion show.
The course kicked off with a workshop by YKK, which assisted the young designers right from the start of their training programme. The workshop enabled them to explore fastening accessories, which then became major features in two outfits shown by each designer. YKK, a leading zip maker, is this year celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Group’s Italian associate. Being rooted in technology, creativity, sensibility and promotion of the new, YKK has always been committed to art, in all its manifestations.
The designers were also able to discover the benefits of Merino wool, a natural and sustainable fibre, thanks to a new partnership that CMNI has formed with The Woolmark Company, a global authority on Australian Merino wool. With support from The Woolmark Company and CMNI, each designer developed a woollen outfit demonstrating the countless properties of this fibre.
The 3-month training project continued with a workshop by Facebook Italia, a Milano Moda Graduate partner. It focused on Instagram and was held by Laura Milani, Head of Luxury at Facebook and Instagram, who explained to the students the many ways of communicating on the new social platforms. While an inspiring encounter with Anna dello Russo entitled “Hands in the Dough” enabled the finalists to put their manual skills and creativity to the test in a bakery, a metaphor for the challenge awaiting them and an opportunity for the young students to bene t by the vision and experience of the well-known fashion editor. Then there was a visit to Ratti to give the students a deeper understanding of our production chain and help them source fabrics for producing their capsule collections. This was followed by an exploration of the manufacturing tradition of Eurojersey and their Sensitive Fabrics. Lastly, mentoring was provided by movie producer Gianni Serra.
The next (5th) Milano Moda Graduate is scheduled for the Milano Moda Uomo in June 2019, with invitations to participate going out to all Italian fashion schools in January 2019.
