IN CONVERSATION WITH RÊVENIGHT
Could you tell us a bit about you and your background? When was your first approach to fashion?
I was born in Togo, West africa. I spent some of my childhood there , then moved to the states when I was 10 years old . My first approach to fashion was when I started going to high school and we had to wear our clothes to school because they had no uniform obligation.
Introduce us to the brand’s philosophy and what’s the meaning behind the brand’s name?
The word Rêve itself means dream in french , so basically means making your dreams come true and also symbolizes hope.

How is this philosophy manifested and interpreted in the garments themselves?
To bring the meaning back to the design aspect , as a designer i try to make something dreamy and futuristic but mellow down to today’s present of what’s acceptable and common to wear.
Your brand is offering some references to geometric shapes of fabrics. How does a garment’s multifunctionality play a role in your collections?
Garment manipulation plays a big role because the shape, feel and deconstruction of fabrics are important in design.
Do you have a different approach when designing for men and women, or would you consider your garments ‘genderless’?
I would definitely consider my designs genderless expect when I’m making a dress.
How do you think education can improve a newborn brand and how it can play a role in launching a new brand?
Education is cool to have in both situations , but having experiences and resources can actually make a brand .
Name us a few celebrities you would like to work with and why?
Matthew Williams – because he’s a cool designer for Alyx Studio and Givenchy, I’ll like to work with one day. Kanye West – he’s one of my idols in style , design , and music.
Are you stocked in some retail stores? Where? What differentiates your brand from others that sell online?
There is no big difference . I wish I had a stock in some store right now but unfortunately it never workout but i hope it can get in stores one day.
Is there a particular personality you have in mind when designing your pieces?
I’m a true fashionista and stylist so when I design my ego takes over. I basically become anyone I want to be.

If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before starting a fashion label what would it be?
If I can go back and give myself advice before starting a brand , that would be , to take my time and learn the business side of fashion before jumping into anything crazy
How do you see your brand growing and evolving in the future?
I really hope one day in the future , my brand gets the recognition that it deserves ; by being in stores and part of a buyers list . I also hope to have an official studio for the brand.
