NANA GOTTI + CULTURAL INFLUENCES

Nana Gotti emerges as a magical mix of innovation and craftsmanship in unexpected places, expertly merging contemporary femininity with a cosmopolitan essence that captivates and inspires. At the heart of this emerging womenswear label lies the profound vision of its founder, Nagehan Dobler, a designer whose creative background is shaped by various cultural influences.

Drawing deeply from her Turkish heritage, as well as from the idyllic city of Zurich, where she was born and raised, the brand embodies a distinctive duality that infuses every collection with a unique harmony of Eastern elegance and Swiss sophistication.

This intricate fusion forms the very DNA of Nana Gotti, representing a dialogue between contrasting worlds that seamlessly coexist within its designs. Each collection is a vibrant celebration of cultural narratives, reflecting a lifetime of experiences that transcend geographical boundaries. The founder’s journey through various cities—ranging from Johannesburg, with its dynamic street style, to the bustling fashion hubs of London and New York—has enriched her worldview and informed her artistic sensibilities. This global perspective breathes life into Nana Gotti’s creations, instilling them with a sense of wanderlust and an effortless chic that resonates with women around the globe.

Nana Gotti stands as a tribute to bold, confident women who embrace their individuality and fearlessly express their unique identities. The label’s garments are not simply clothes; they are empowering statements crafted to enhance the self-assurance of the wearer. With signature silhouettes that celebrate the female form, each piece is meticulously designed to reflect a refined playfulness that defies the constraints of fleeting trends. The collections feature a juxtaposition of textures and styles, marrying structured blazers—the epitome of polished professionalism—with dazzling dresses that command attention and inspire awe.

The silhouettes are an exploration of contrasts that speaks to the brand’s commitment to versatility. The designer plays ingeniously with fabrics, crafting each piece to embody both strength and softness, allowing for multiple interpretations depending on the wearer’s mood or occasion. The blazers, with their sharp lines and tailored fits, convey an air of authority while hinting at the playful spirit found in unexpected details—be it a pop of color, an intricate pattern, or innovative cut-outs. Meanwhile, the dresses capture a sense of fluidity and freedom, designed to flow with the wearer’s movements, enchanting those who catch a glimpse of their elegance. However, Nana Gotti is far more than a fashion label; it embodies a lifestyle that resonates deeply with women who aspire to be seen and heard. Each collection is an invitation to embrace one’s authentic self and to navigate the world with confidence and grace. It is about celebrating the multifaceted identities that women embody—whether they are traversing the urban landscape or attending a gala event, Nana Gotti provides the pieces that empower them to shine.

The essence of Nana Gotti lies in its unwavering belief in the power of fashion as a tool of self-expression. The brand not only curates exquisite pieces, but it also fosters a community of like-minded individuals who share an appreciation for artful design and a commitment to living boldly. Nana Gotti invites each wearer to embrace their world, to adorn themselves in garments that resonate with their innermost identity, and to cultivate a lifestyle where style and confidence walk hand in hand.

With each season, Nana Gotti paves the way for a new chapter in the fashion narrative, ensuring that every woman can find her voice and express her essence through thoughtfully crafted, beautifully designed clothing. The brand is steadfast in its commitment to honoring the beautiful intersection of cultures, providing a platform for women to not only wear their heritage with pride but to do so in a way that feels refreshingly contemporary. IN CONVERSATION WITH NAGEHAN DOBLER

Could you take us through your entire design process for a collection, starting from the initial concept to the final garment, and highlight any pivotal moments where inspiration struck you?

Each Nana Gotti collection begins with a feeling, often sparked by a memory, a cultural reference, or something I’ve seen while traveling. I start with a mood board, build the concept visually, and then explore fabrics that bring the emotion to life. Sketching and draping follow, where the silhouette and structure start to take form.

Interestingly, my most pivotal creative moments often happen when I least expect them, usually while on holiday, when my mind is relaxed, or even while running on the treadmill. That’s when ideas truly flow, and I can see the full picture come together. From there, I refine every detail with my atelier to ensure each piece feels full of purpose.

You often draw inspiration from your rich cultural background. Can you share some specific symbols, colors, or motifs from your Turkish heritage that you find particularly influential in your design ethos?

I’m especially inspired by traditional Iznik tile motifs, like tulips, prunus flowers, and saz leaves, which symbolize beauty and rebirth. These elements often show up in prints, textures, or fabric cuts.

For Spring-Summer 2026, we’re going back to our roots ,revisiting the tulip as a key symbol and reintroducing more vibrant prints, much like we did in our very first collection. It’s a modern celebration of where we started.

How do you navigate the delicate balance between bold, statement pieces and playful elements in your collections, and can you provide examples of garments that embody this duality?

For me, it’s all about balance; bold shapes with playful spirit. The Kaia Dress is a great example: dramatic feathers meet soft, off-shoulder ease. Or the Koa Dress, where a sleek bodice contrasts with a fun, fringed skirt.

Are there materials or sustainable practices that you prioritize in your creations, and how do you think they contribute to not just the aesthetic, but also the longevity and wearability of your pieces?

I’m very intentional about choosing quality materials that not only elevate the aesthetic but also ensure longevity and comfort. I often work with breathable natural fabrics like linen blends, as seen in the Koa Dress, or select deadstock fabrics to reduce waste and bring uniqueness to each piece.

While I don’t label Nana Gotti as fully sustainable yet, I believe in thoughtful production, limited runs, durable design, and timeless cuts that transcend seasons

How do you manage to stay on top of global trends while ensuring that your brand maintains its unique voice and perspective? Could you give us insight into your research and development process?

My research involves everything from runway analysis and street style to cultural references, travel, and even conversations with women in my community. I also pay close attention to mood shifts — what women are feeling, craving, and needing from fashion. From there, I explore how certain trends can align with our brand DNA, rather than define it.

You often mention ‘wanderlust’ as a driving force behind your collections. Can you describe how particular travel experiences have influenced specific pieces or themes within your work?

Wanderlust is a huge part of my creative process, travel opens my eyes to new textures, colors, and ways of living. Each destination leaves an imprint. For instance, a trip to Istanbul inspired my first collection through the intricate patterns of Iznik tiles and the vibrant energy of the city. The floral prints and 3D fabric cuts were a direct reflection of that. The Amalfi Coast, for example, inspired pieces with printed tile motifs and sun-drenched color palettes, echoing the beauty of its architecture and seaside vibrance. Johannesburg, on the other hand, left a lasting impression with its bold energy and confidence ,influencing the playful sexiness in my silhouettes and styling. Travel gives me fresh perspective, but more importantly, it connects emotion to design

As Nana Gotti continues to expand, what future directions do you foresee for your label in terms of innovation and expanding your design language to reach new audiences?

As Nana Gotti grows, I’m excited to explore a bolder, more experimental side of the brand – I’m also drawn to tech-forward materials, new forms of texture play, and tapping into cultural references that speak to a younger, global audience. Whether it’s through limited-edition drops, creative collabs, or immersive brand experiences, I want Nana Gotti to feel like a movement , a visual language for women
