Joshua Raiffe is a Brooklyn-based professional artist, whose passion for creativity and self-expression is rooted in his family’s reverence for art and design. Raiffe’s Great Grandfather was a fashion designer, his grandmother was a stuffed toy designer and his mother currently owns a glass studio called The Glass Underground. His work with glass reflects this spirit of invention and creativity, and his unique style has earned him numerous awards and recognition.
Raiffe received a BFA from Tyler School of Art, during which he gained valuable experience by working at Belle Mead Hot Glass and teaching classes at the Crefeld School. He continued to hone his skills and vision by attending classes at institutions like Pilchuck, the Bullseye Resource Center in Santa Fe and Penland School of Craft. Raiffe has also been awarded the Steve Stormer Award and the Penland Partner Scholarship.
In addition to teaching glass blowing at various institutions, including the Tyler School of Art, East Falls Glassworks, Brooklyn Glass, and UrbanGlass, Raiffe has also been featured in publications like New Glass Review, Talking Out your Glass,Design Milk, Elle, W Magazine, Paper Magazine, Nylon, Design Spec, i-D Magazine, Vogue, Highsnobiety and many others.
Raiffe’s current work straddles the lines between art, design and fashion. “It is my sincerest hope that my bags will inspire the wearer to have a bold and powerful voice, and hopefully becomea treasured family heirloom for generations.”
