Panettone o pandoro? A Natale, nessuno deve scegliere tra mangiare o andare in palestra.
Queste festività ci riuniscono tutti, vediamo tutti slacciare la cintura per respirare più liberamente dopo pranzi e cene abbondanti. Quindi a Natale, siamo tutti più buoni e meno critici nei confronti del mondo. Non so se la body positività sia presente, ma certamente c’è ancora un barlume di positività semplice in quei dieci giorni di dicembre.
Ora che abbiamo anche Threads, dove possiamo condividere pensieri che prima venivano ignorati sotto le foto di Instagram, siamo tutti più felici, anche se prima alcuni odiavano Twitter e non si sono resi conto che, a parte il nome, è la stessa cosa con le stesse funzioni.
Amen. Vedremo quanto durerà.
Ah, un piccolo aggiornamento sui modelli curvy maschili che sono stati visti durante una settimana della moda uomo. Tornate pure a fare gli idraulici o ciò che facevate prima, perché il vostro vero corpo non interessa più al fashion system, non fa più notizia. Prima era divertente vedere taglie 54 ben adattate alle misure campione perché faceva notizia e rappresentava una “pubblicità diversa”.
Ora il trend è tornato agli scheletrici e, in alcuni casi, muscoletti tali da far scoppiare i bottoni delle camicie, come noi facciamo con gli ultimi cappelletti rimasti nella pentola del brodo il 25 dicembre, sfidando la zia che con il cucchiaio scaccia la nostra mano. Per me, la sensazione più scomoda è sentire il tessuto appiccicato alla pelle, non avere un movimento fluido delle braccia e delle spalle e avere la vita dei pantaloni che comprime il pube.
Questo servizio è realizzato con capi in taglie campione che uno stylist potrebbe trovare in qualsiasi ufficio stampa, ma indossati da corpi altrettanto alternativi che abbiamo visto per una o massimo due settimane della moda, sfilare sulle passerelle con abiti appositamente confezionati, ma che poi non si trovano da nessuna parte.
Ho deciso di cimentarmi in questo shooting/sfida con vestiti che impacchettano di più che vestire.
Questo Natale ho scelto l’incomodità anziché stare comodo.

Panettone or pandoro? During Christmas, there’s no need to choose between indulgence and hitting the gym. These festivities bring us all together, as we loosen our belts after a delicious feast. For a brief period in December, we become kinder and less bitter towards the world. Maybe it’s not all body positivity, but there’s a glimmer of simple positivity during these ten days.
Now that we have platforms like Threads where we can share our thoughts, previously ignored beneath Instagram photos, we can all find more happiness. Even those who used to hate Twitter can appreciate that, apart from the name change, it offers the same functions. Amen. Let’s see how long this positivity lasts.
Oh, and a little update on the curvy male models who made waves during a men’s fashion week: go back to being plumbers or whatever you did before. Your real bodies are no longer of interest to the fashion system. Before, it was exciting to see size 54 individuals confidently wearing sample sizes. It was news, it was “different advertising.” But now, the fashion industry has reverted back to skeletal frames and small muscles pushed to the brink at the gym. They eagerly devour the fabric, much like we do the last cappelletti in the pot of broth on December 25th, even challenging the aunt who lovingly waves her spoon at you.
For me, the most uncomfortable sensation is feeling fabric cling to my skin, restricting the fluid movement of my arms and shoulders. The waistband of my trousers squeezes my pubis. This photoshoot was created using garments in sample sizes that stylists can find in any press office. However, they are worn by individuals whose bodies differ from the norm, who were briefly glimpsed on the catwalks for one or two fashion weeks, only to disappear afterwards. But you can find them out there.
This Christmas, I chose discomfort over comfort. I challenge societal expectations and embrace my true self, no matter my size.
