The devotion to craftsmanship shines through every intricately designed piece, as attention to detail and the art of jewelry-making are central to the Be-Diamond philosophy. Each item is not simply an ornamental object but rather a cherished artifact crafted with care that reflects the spirit of its owner. The history of Be-Diamond paints a vivid picture of a family’s longstanding connection to the diamond industry. This story begins with Anastassian’s mother, who dedicated over thirty years of her life to mastering the intricacies of the diamond trade. Her extensive expertise laid the groundwork for the family, creating a legacy steeped in passion and dedication to the art of diamonds.

As fate would have it, her son naturally followed in her footsteps, becoming a skilled diamond cutter while still in his youth. His early start in this intricate craft allowed him to understand the nuances of diamond selection, ensuring that each stone chosen for Be-Diamond jewelry is treated with the utmost respect and precision. Complementing this lineage further is Nathalie, the daughter-in-law, who infuses creativity into the brand through her design work. Her innovative vision balances modern trends with classic elegance, allowing Be-Diamond to cater to a diverse clientele that appreciates both contemporary charm and timeless beauty.

This bespoke offering appeals to those who cherish individuality and custom experiences that speak directly to their personal narratives. Be-Diamond consciously chooses not to maintain a standard inventory, which allows them to guarantee that every piece created is singular and special in its own right. This bespoke methodology means that each order is overseen directly by the founders, fostering a close relationship with clients and infusing each piece with a personal touch that larger, impersonal retailers can seldom offer. BE-DIAMOND: THE INTERVIEW
The bespoke jewelry offerings of Be Diamond highlight a commitment to individuality and personal expression. Could you describe the step-by-step process that a customer can expect when they choose to design their piece with Be Diamond? How do you, as a designer, guide them through this journey of self-expression? Can you elaborate on how you balance their creative vision while maintaining your brand’s aesthetic standards?
There are two ways to proceed. The first is when the buyer wants a model from our collection as it is this process is quite straightforward: selection, order, and delivery. The custom-made option, however, requires more time and collaboration between the client and us. There are several meetings where the client shares the story behind their purchase, what they want, their ideas, and their budget. We always start with the budget to ensure their vision fits within it because we never want to pressure clients into spending more than they planned. Our goal is to guide them and show them the different possibilities based on their ideas and budget.
Your decision to focus on black diamonds is intriguing, as this choice sets Be Diamond apart from many mainstream jewelers. What inspired you to embrace this lesser-known gemstone, and what advantages do you believe black diamonds provide that make them a compelling choice for your clientele? How do you go about educating customers on the value and beauty of black diamonds, especially in a market that often gravitates toward traditional diamond options?
The choice of black diamonds is personal because I find them incredibly beautiful and much more rock-inspired. What I’ve noticed is that people love black diamonds but tend to buy white ones. I think jewelry with black diamonds often comes as a second purchase when clients already own a “classic” diamond. With black diamonds, you can go for larger sizes since they are more affordable. A black diamond doesn’t come out of nature in that color but is treated however, it is still a natural diamond, not lab-created.
Quality craftsmanship is key to your brand’s identity. Could you delve into your collaborative relationships with artisans in Antwerp, and how these partnerships enhance the craftsmanship and exclusivity of your designs? What specific qualities do you seek in the craftsmen you work with, and can you share any stories that exemplify these collaborations in action?
We work with several artisans in Antwerp, each with their own specialty. What I look for are artisans with an open mind and curiosity. It’s more than just a collaboration; it’s a true team effort to transform an idea into a piece of fine jewelry.

By choosing not to maintain an inventory, you implement a made-to-order model that adds a personal touch to each order. How do you manage the intricacies of custom orders while ensuring that each piece meets the high standards of quality and excellence that Be Diamond is known for? What logistical challenges have you encountered with this approach, and how do you overcome them while keeping the customer experience at the forefront?
For each idea, we create a prototype and then work on demand. This requires a lot of flexibility from both us and the artisans. Now that we collaborate with several retail points, we do maintain a minimum stock in stores. However, the idea of not having a large inventory comes from our desire to offer clients the possibility to personalize each model.
Your family’s rich background in the diamond industry is both compelling and influential in your work. Can you reflect on how your family’s generational knowledge has shaped your understanding of diamonds and your approach to jewelry design? Are there particular lessons, values, or practices passed down through your family that you actively implement in your work at Be Diamond?
My husband’s experience and that of his family have been very valuable to me. I entered a world I didn’t know much about, but I was well guided. There are things that only experience can teach. When it comes to selecting diamonds and all the technical aspects, I always consult with him. Sometimes, an idea seems simple in my imagination but is much more complex in reality. As I’ve said before, it’s truly a team effort: I bring the ideas, my husband brings the experience, and the artisans bring their craftsmanship to bring everything to life.
As a designer focusing on exclusivity and individuality, how do you ensure that each custom piece not only meets your artistic vision but also resonates with your customers’ desires and personalities? Have you ever faced a situation where a customer’s request challenged your design philosophy? How do you navigate such scenarios, and what strategies do you employ to arrive at a harmonious balance?
Here too, collaboration, communication, and expression are essential. I’ve already had requests that were not easy for me. I remember a ring where I had to combine a round brilliant-cut diamond with a rectangular aquamarine. I spent days turning the elements in every possible way to achieve a result that I was satisfied with.
In your opinion, what qualities define a truly successful jewelry piece, particularly in the context of your work at Be Diamond? How do you assess each design to ensure that it embodies the values of uniqueness, craftsmanship, and emotional resonance? Can you share specific criteria or traits you look for that help you determine whether a piece meets your artistic and quality standards?
For technical quality, we work with the best artisans. In terms of design, I would say we follow a minimalist, chic, yet unconventional style, transforming elements like puzzles and paperclips into jewelry. Sometimes I have ideas, but I realize they don’t fit within the Be-Diamond style. Of course, when working on custom requests, we adapt to the client’s wishes. But for the Be-Diamond collections, I would describe the style as truly minimalist, chic, and unconventional.
