ART: OH HI! LAB

Oh Hi! Lab. is a ceramic studio based in Northern Italy, located near the ceramic district of Nove, a town rich in raw materials, praised for its 300-year-old pottery tradition.

This project was born in August 2020, and explores various candle holders in different shapes and colors. At the present moment, they are made with red clay, fired at low temperature, but in the future the experimentation will expand to include different materials and firings. However, candle holders will remain at the center of the label. We are obsessed with these little sculptures that can be used to illuminate empty rooms or set tables, to spark a light on friends gathering to eat dinner and drink wine.

Oh Hi was born from research and experimentation in ceramics, passing through a strong attraction for conviviality, in all its forms. The results are exclusively handmade creations, vessels of shape and matter in constant change. The core of this approach is shaped in the image of the candelabra, a departure element that, stripped of its very essence, is endowed with a strong aspect of sharing time and space. Out of this emerges a qualitative moment that brings together and unites by generating warmth and new horizons of communication.

The below images show a series of works selected from the archive of oh hi! lab. the photos of the products were made by Elena Andreato and each product is combined by illustrations realized by Giulia Geromel – the two narratives intertwine to create a single story.

Freehand line drawing by Giulia Geromel – to a shade of light, to a memory of a form. The remarkable evocative power that the pieces are able to create represents an identity between form and movement. Each object represents a nuance that is captured by the observer, acting as a link between observed and experienced space. They create new worlds by entering the homes of those who inhabit them, giving life to a moment to be shared.
